BIOGRAPHY: John Shurtleff was a farmer and when he moved to Attleboro (MA) his brother, "Uncle Will," moved into his house by the "sweet apple tree," at what is now Carver, and burned it down, lost all his goods in it, but never rebuilt (Shurtleff, 1976).
