An alternate last name spelling of "Hays" is shown on the USGenWeb tombstone inscriptions for Savannah Cemetery, Ashland Co., Ohio.  A note indicates that he is actually buried in Wooster, Ohio.

19. Mary HAYES 1 was born about 1786 1, 2. She died 3 Jan 1857 1, 2 and was buried in Savannah Cemetery, Ashland Co., Ohio 2.

Mary's maiden name is thought to be Hayes, but apparently not related to Thomas [GEDCOM file, unknown source].

They had the following children:

9 F i Elizabeth HAYES was born 10 Jul 1815 and died 7 Jan 1902.
