"He was also known as Major William Christmas.  He was Deputy sheriff in May 1780 at Warren Co., NC.  He was mentioned in a court record 'Ordered that John Wortham, William Christmas, and Seymore Ransom, or any two of them be appointed Commissioners to let the repariing of the bridge across Fishing Creek near Warrenton report to next Court' on 26 Feb 1801 at Wareenton, Warren Co., NC. As of 1804, his obituary mentions his rank as Major."
